Fort Jackson, South Carolina, is the largest and most active initial entry training center in the United States Army. Located just outside of Columbia, SC, it serves as the primary entry point for all new recruits entering the Army. While Fort Jackson has a long and storied history, it may come as a surprise to many that there is actually no movie theater on the base.

The lack of an on-base movie theater isn’t for lack of trying.

In fact, plans were submitted to build one back in the late 1990s but were eventually scrapped due to budgetary constraints. This was a disappointment to many of the personnel stationed at Fort Jackson who had looked forward to having a movie theater nearby.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of options for those looking for entertainment while stationed at Fort Jackson. The base offers a variety of recreational activities such as bowling, golfing, swimming and more. Additionally, there are dozens of movie theaters located within 20 miles of Fort Jackson that offer films from all genres and age ranges.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Fort Jackson does not have an on-base movie theater but there are plenty of other entertainment options available both on and off-base for personnel stationed at this historic military facility.
