Body Alignment

The hips should be kept level and hips rotated forward slightly. The knees should be slightly bent; this helps keep you in control while balancing on one foot.


Spotting is an important element of balancing in ballet, as it allows you to stay focused on one point while turning or jumping. Spotting involves looking at a single spot while rotating, which helps keep your balance during turns and jumps. It also helps you maintain control over your movements, so you can focus on technique instead of worrying about falling out of balance.

Muscle Strength
