How Many Grades of Cecchetti Ballet Are There?

Cecchetti Ballet is a type of dance created by the Italian dancer Enrico Cecchetti. It has become one of the most popular forms of ballet in the world, and is taught in many schools and universities around the world.

Cecchetti Ballet consists of five graded levels which are designed to help students progress from beginner to advanced levels. The five grades are Pre-Primary, Primary, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3.

Pre-Primary is designed for students who are just beginning to learn Cecchetti Ballet. This grade focuses on basic movements and positions such as plié, relevé, tendu and arabesque.

Students will also learn how to properly execute steps such as pas de chat and pas de bourrée. Pre-Primary is usually taught to children between the ages of 4-6.

Primary is for students who have some experience with ballet or have completed Pre-Primary level. This grade builds on the foundation set in Pre-Primary by introducing more challenging steps such as pas de basque and chassé. Students will also learn more advanced positions such as élevé, grand battement and petit allegro.

Grade 1 – Grade 1 is where students refine their technique and begin learning more complex steps and combinations. During this grade, students will begin working on pointe work if they are ready. Steps such as grand jeté and brisé will be introduced along with more intricate choreography.

Grade 2 – In Grade 2, students focus on perfecting their technique while continuing to expand their repertoire of steps and combinations. Pointe work becomes more frequent at this level as well as other advanced skills such as pirouettes en pointe and fouettés.

Grade 3 – Grade 3 is the highest level of Cecchetti Ballet that a student can achieve before moving onto professional training programs. At this level, dancers must demonstrate mastery of all basic ballet steps and combinations while executing them with strength, grace, musicality and artistry.

In conclusion, there are five grades associated with Cecchetti Ballet: Pre-Primary, Primary, Grade 1 , Grade 2 ,and Grade 3 . Each grade builds upon the previous one by introducing new skills while perfecting existing ones in order to help dancers progress from beginner to advanced levels.
