The Denver Art Museum has been a cornerstone of the city of Denver’s cultural identity since 1893. Located in the Golden Triangle Creative District, the museum is considered one of the top art institutions in the country and is home to some of the world’s most important artwork. Even though it’s been around for over 125 years, the museum is still undergoing changes and expansion projects that are designed to make it an even more amazing destination for art lovers.

Recent Renovations

Over the last few years, the Denver Art Museum has undergone a number of renovations and additions that have made it one of the most modern and up-to-date museums in America. In 2014, they opened their new Frederic C. Hamilton Building, which added 145,000 square feet to their existing campus.

This building houses a variety of different galleries, as well as classrooms, offices and a library. The construction project also included improvements to their North Building, which was renovated with new galleries and educational spaces.

Future Projects

The Denver Art Museum isn’t done yet with its expansion projects. They are currently working on a new project called “The New West Wing” which will add an additional 40,000 square feet to their campus. This new wing will include an auditorium for lectures and performances, as well as expanded gallery space for contemporary artworks.

The answer to the question ‘Is The Denver Art Museum Still Under Construction?’ is yes; although their recent renovations have been completed, there are still future projects in the works that will continue to expand and improve this already spectacular museum.
