Movie theaters in El Dorado, Arkansas have been closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic. That means moviegoers in the area have been without a way to watch new releases or even their old favorites for almost a year now. But, with the vaccine rollout starting in the state, there is hope that movie theaters may be able to reopen soon.

El Dorado has two main theaters: Malco Theatres and Cinemark Tinseltown USA.

Both are located near the University of Arkansas at El Dorado and have been closed since the start of the pandemic. Cinemark has opened some of its locations in other states, but not yet in El Dorado. Malco Theatres has not opened any locations yet either.

The city of El Dorado is currently working on a plan to safely reopen its theaters. This plan includes strict guidelines such as wearing masks at all times, social distancing, and limiting capacity to 50%. If these guidelines are followed, it is possible that movie theaters could reopen as soon as mid-April 2021.
