At the end of this course students should be able to identify major stylistic changes across time periods in Western and non-Western cultures and make informed interpretations about various works based on their knowledge about individual artists’ histories or broader historical trends. They should also be able to write scholarly essays which combine research with personal observations in order demonstrate an understanding about how works fit into a larger socio-cultural framework.
