The International Ballet Competition, or IBC, is one of the most prestigious and sought-after ballet competitions in the world. It has been held annually since 1986 and is renowned for bringing together some of the best ballet dancers from around the globe. Each year, hundreds of competitors come together to compete for prizes and recognition.

The IBC is organized by an international jury composed of leading figures in the ballet world. This jury selects participants based on their technical ability, artistic expression, and overall performance. Aspiring dancers must also demonstrate a commitment to excellence and dedication to their craft in order to be accepted into the competition.

The competition itself consists of three rounds: a preliminary round, a semi-final round, and a final round. During each round, competitors are judged on their dancing skill as well as their musicality and overall stage presence.

They must also demonstrate an understanding of classical ballet technique and perform with grace and poise. The finalists are then chosen by the jury based on their performances throughout all three rounds.

At the end of the competition, awards are presented to the winners in categories such as best soloist, best group performance, best choreography, best costume design etc. The overall winner is awarded with a grand prize which includes money, scholarships to prestigious schools or companies as well as other recognitions such as invitations to international galas or festivals.

The 2020 International Ballet Competition was scheduled to take place in Rome from June 26th-July 6th but due to coronavirus concerns has been postponed until 2021.
