The Paris Opera Ballet is one of the most famous and prestigious ballet companies in the world. It is one of the oldest ballet companies in existence, having been founded in 1669.

The company has a long and illustrious history, including performances of some of the greatest ballets ever created. From its early days, the company has been home to some of the world’s most talented dancers and choreographers, and its repertoire includes masterpieces from luminaries such as Marius Petipa, George Balanchine and Maurice Béjart.

The Paris Opera Ballet is based at the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris, France. The Palais Garnier was built in 1875 and is a masterpiece of architecture, featuring beautiful marble staircases, ornate balconies and vast grand halls. It is also home to a number of other performing arts companies, including the Paris Opera Orchestra and La Scala Theater Orchestra.

The Paris Opera Ballet has a rich repertoire of ballets from around the world. Its repertoire includes classical works such as “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky; “Romeo & Juliet” by Sergei Prokofiev; “Giselle” by Adolphe Adam; “Coppélia” by Leo Delibes; “La Bayadère” by Ludwig Minkus; and contemporary works such as Pina Bausch’s “Café Müller” or Merce Cunningham’s “Biped”. The company also commissions new works every year from leading choreographers such as William Forsythe, Christopher Wheeldon or Mats Ek.

The company performs around 200 shows per year throughout France as well as internationally on tour. It stages several full-evening ballets each season at its home at the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris. In addition to this it also hosts numerous special events throughout the year including gala performances with guest artists from around the world as well as educational initiatives for children and young people.
