Who Has Covered True by Spandau Ballet?

Ballet

The 80s British pop/rock band, Spandau Ballet, released their chart-topping hit “True” in 1983. The song was an instant international success and its popularity has only grown over time. As a result, many other artists have covered the track over the years.

One of the earliest covers of “True” came from Danish singer Michael Learns To Rock in 1995. They put their own spin on the classic with a more synth-pop sound and added a slight country twang to it. This version was a hit in several countries including Japan and Denmark.

In 2006, American Idol runner-up Bo Bice released his version of “True” as part of his debut album, The Real Thing. His rendition was much more modern and contemporary than Michael Learns To Rock’s version, but still kept true to the original melody.

In 2010, Canadian singer-songwriter Blake McGrath released his rendition of “True” as part of his album Time To Move On. His version was much slower and more downtempo than any other versions released before it, giving it a unique feel.

More recently, in 2017 UK rock band Coldplay covered “True” as part of their EP Kaleidoscope. They kept true to the original melody while also adding some modern production elements such as electronic drums and synths.

Conclusion:

Over the years there have been countless different interpretations of Spandau Ballet’s classic song “True”. From Michael Learns To Rock’s 1995 synth-pop rendition to Coldplay’s 2017 electro-rock cover – this track continues to be an enduring favorite for many artists.
