How Do You Use Pixel Art in Excel?

Pixel art is a form of digital art that uses very small, precise squares of color to create a larger, more complex image. It’s an incredibly popular medium for game developers and indie game creators. But did you know you can also create pixel art using Microsoft Excel? Though it won’t give you the same level of detail as dedicated pixel art software, it’s still a great way to quickly create basic pixel art.

Step 1: To get started with pixel art in Excel, open up your program and choose the “Insert” tab. Then select the “Shapes” drop-down menu and choose any shape from the list. This will serve as your starting point for creating your artwork.

Step 2: Drag the shape to the worksheet where you want to place it. You can move, rotate, resize or delete it as needed. When you’re happy with its placement, right-click on the shape and select “Format Shape” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Now that you have your starting point set up, it’s time to start adding color. Select the “Fill” option from the left-hand menu in the Format Shape window and choose any color from the palette. You can also adjust its transparency if desired. When you’re done, click “OK” to apply your changes and close out of the window.

Step 4: Now that your first shape is colored in, it’s time to start building out your pixel art masterpiece! To do this, repeat steps 1 through 3 until you have all of your shapes colored in as desired. Be sure to pay attention to size and color when laying out each individual piece – these two elements are key when creating pixel art!

Step 5: Once all of your shapes are filled in with color, select them all by holding down Shift while clicking each one individually or by pressing Ctrl+A on Windows or Command+A on MacOS (selecting all objects). Then right-click on any one of them and select “Group” from the drop-down menu – this will help keep all of your shapes together so they don’t get accidentally moved around while working on other parts of your artwork.
